Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Communication Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing complex communication systems, specifically focusing on fiber optic connectivity, network integration, and high-speed data communication for large-scale ITS projects.

The successful candidate will lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of communication architectures for DMS (Dynamic Message Signs) and LCS (Lane Control Systems), ensuring robust connectivity between field devices and the Traffic Management Center (TMC).

Key Responsibilities

  • System Architecture: Develop and review comprehensive communication architectures for DMS/LCS systems, ensuring reliable links between field devices and central hubs.

  • Network Design: Design and evaluate IP-based communication systems, coordinating fiber connectivity and network interfaces.

  • Hardware Configuration: Hands-on configuration of Industrial Ethernet switches, SFP modules, and high-speed communication links.

  • Cabinet Integration: Support the installation and troubleshooting of network components within DMS/LCS cabinets, including patch panels, termination points, and media converters.

  • Systems Integration: Facilitate seamless data flow between field devices and ATMS (Advanced Traffic Management Systems) headend software.

  • Testing & Commissioning: Lead the testing and troubleshooting phases for network integration to ensure project compliance and performance standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: 5–10 years of proven experience in communication systems, specifically within ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) or large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in fiber optic networks, IP-based systems, and integrating field hardware with central software.

  • License: A valid UAE Driving License is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher.

  • Project History: Demonstrated experience working on ATMS integration or similar smart city/transportation packages.
