Planning Engineer / Project Planner – Mission-Critical Construction | Abu Dhabi

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer / Project Planner for a major mission-critical construction project in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules while supporting the project team in the timely delivery of complex structural and building works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential delays and schedule risks.
  • Prepare accurate weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and recommend recovery plans where required.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams for schedule updates.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, and overall project progress.
  • Prepare look-ahead programmes and provide planning updates to project management.
  • Support management with project planning, progress monitoring, and reporting.
  • Assist with delay analysis, Extension of Time (EOT) claims, and recovery programmes.
  • Monitor construction sequencing and ensure activities are aligned with project requirements.
  • Highlight schedule risks and recommend corrective actions to maintain project timelines.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience as a Planning Engineer / Project Planner on major construction projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Experience planning and monitoring complex building, structural, or mission-critical projects.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience on major building or structural projects.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in critical path analysis, delay analysis, and recovery programmes.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project controls, and schedule management.
  • Experience with progress measurement, look-ahead programmes, and project reporting.
  • Previous UAE/GCC experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
