Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Design Engineer – R&D specialising in industrial skid and modular equipment design. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing 3D models, fabrication drawings, structural designs, lifting analysis, and complete skid packages while coordinating closely with engineering, procurement, fabrication, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design industrial skids and modular equipment packages.
  • Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Design skid frames, support structures, base frames, and lifting lugs.
  • Perform structural calculations, weight estimation, Centre of Gravity (CoG), and lifting analysis.
  • Integrate equipment, piping, and vendor drawings into skid layouts.
  • Prepare BOMs, material specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate with process, piping, electrical, procurement, fabrication, and production teams.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Review and resolve design and manufacturability issues with fabrication teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with project specifications, ASME/ISO standards, and fabrication requirements.
  • Optimise designs for cost, manufacturability, structural integrity, and ease of assembly.
  • Support design reviews and technical problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7–9 years of relevant experience in skid and modular equipment design.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks, including:
    • Part
    • Assembly
    • Drawing
    • Weldments
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel, welding, fabrication, and material selection.
  • Experience with skid-mounted systems, HVAC, Oil & Gas, or industrial equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of lifting loads, CoG calculations, weight estimation, and structural calculations.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ISO, and relevant engineering standards.
  • Experience working directly with fabrication/production teams.
  • Ability to optimise designs for manufacturability and structural integrity.
  • ANSYS/FEA knowledge is an advantage.
  • Surface treatment/coating knowledge is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
