Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong exposure to water infrastructure and underground utility projects.
The candidate will be responsible for commercial and contractual activities, cost control, variations, claims, subcontractor management, payment certification, and final accounts throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with water pipelines, potable water networks, sewerage/wastewater networks, pumping stations, irrigation networks, STP/WTP, and other underground utility projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage QS and commercial activities for water infrastructure and utility projects.
- Prepare and review BOQs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and project budgets.
- Handle interim payment applications, variations, change orders, and claims.
- Evaluate and certify subcontractor payment applications.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, and overall commercial performance.
- Prepare regular cost reports and identify potential commercial risks, cost overruns, and savings opportunities.
- Review contracts, specifications, drawings, BOQs, and other commercial documentation.
- Manage subcontractor commercial matters throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare, negotiate, and close subcontractor final accounts.
- Support procurement activities and tender evaluation for subcontract packages.
- Maintain proper documentation for claims, variations, notices, and contractual correspondence.
- Coordinate with project, engineering, procurement, finance, and commercial teams.
- Support project close-out and preparation of final accounts.
- Ensure commercial activities are carried out in accordance with contractual requirements and project procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–12+ years of Quantity Surveying / Commercial experience.
- Strong experience in water infrastructure / utility projects is mandatory.
- Experience with projects involving:
- Water pipelines
- Potable water networks
- Sewerage / wastewater networks
- Pumping stations
- Irrigation networks
- STP / WTP
- Underground utilities
- Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, variations, claims, cost control, and final accounts.
- Strong experience in subcontractor commercial management, payment certification, and final account settlement.
- Good understanding of FIDIC and construction contracts.
- Previous experience with an EPC contractor, infrastructure contractor, or main contractor is highly preferred.
- UAE/GCC project experience is preferred.
- Strong commercial, negotiation, analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
